Beautiful. It is very interesting to learn about the birth of the Project Tiger. The efforts of so many scientists, funds, common people around the world to preserve the "Spirit of the Forest", the mighty tiger (so powerful, almost divine and so helpless against poachers, private revenges, big and small human dramas), deserve attention and support. Should this amazing cat disappear from this world (and it would be none but our bloody fault), it would be another mortal sin against life for which I wish someone will one day judge mankind. I feel so small and useless before so many bad situations in the world today which affect all forms of life, from man to the smallest insect. But to do something, even the slightest thing, is better than doing nothing at all. Dig for info about tiger conservation if you feel the Spirit of the Forest has the same right to live on Mother Earth as you have, and do something, if you can.
Also I would suggest reading this beautiful book by Mathiessen who is really devoted to environment conservation, fascinated by tigers and in love with life, I would say. His writing is fluent and passionate. Also the photographs (which are not by Mathiessen) are stunning. A book worth reading.
