The underlying principles are generic, yet, the examples are specific to SA day-to-day work. I am not a technical guy, therefore, I can't really share some of the author's suggestions. Like the programming language, Perl and Ruby, I have no idea what it is all about. But it seems to ease the pain of SAs by writing some simple but common-used syntax once, then you can reuse it for other many similar programs.

Prioritization is the chapter I like the most. I recommend all SAs to read this chapter. SAs, please take the users' expectation into account when you prioritize your work. We really cannot wait for 1 working day for our simple request like resetting the password!!!!

To save our time, automation every tasks sound great. However, we can't automate everything. What to automate then? The author categories 4 types of problem typically faced by SAs: (1) Simple things done once; (2) Hard things done once; (3) Simple things done often; (4) Hard things done often. What type of problems should be automated? Get the answer yourself by reading the book!
