  Tom Jones, per essere un trovatello, ha tanti antenati, da Pollicino a Lazarillo, e poi tanti discendenti innumerevoli, maschi come Oliver Twist e femmine ancora più innumerevoli, e ha padri come Rabelais o Swift: l'immensa famiglia dei senza famiglia nel mondo infido, con la sola risorsa della propria abilità di vivere. E' un avatar di un topos della letteratura universale, il trovatello, che se la cava e magari infine si disvela. Per questo non può non interessare qualunque lettore, o ascoltatore, o spettatore. Molto anche me, specie nel suo essere tanto scanzonato quanto nostalgico di una qualche moralità del mondo.

  The wonderful and amusing portrait of a estinguished world, where the virtue is always rewarded. But far away from a boring moralist novel (as could be the Richardson's PAMELA), Tom Jones is a real mine, replenished with jewels of all sorts: wit, humour, compassion, love, and, yes, even moral !!!
