How on earth can you discover serial killers by their use of a mannerism such as "get this"? I'm not a native English speaker, so maybe it's just that I don't get this. But, trusting my gut feeling, I think how the revelation of the killer identity dawns upon Rebus is far too miracolous - or too far-fetched. A good Inspector Rebus story in which the titular character finds himself more an alien than he usually is - he is seconded to London to assist a colleague fighting a Serial Killer.
The usual plot devices are employed to get to the end, nothing revolutionary, but it is a very well-written mystery.
Gripping and heart thorbbing. Best Rebus novel so far. So enthralling that at the end ('twas two in the night) I was almost screaming at Rebus: "you are wrong, XXX is the wolfman, not YYY, go the other way!!!"
Rebus wouldn't have listened, anyway.
