I can't by no means write a review on these two books without spoilers, so you're warned. Well Elena becomes a vampire. She's a bit confused at the beginning and her love for Damon is plain clear. Though she regains her memories as soon as she drinks some blood and understands that her love for Stefan is stronger. I am not sure really if she truly knows her feelings, but then, there are other three books in line, I guess it will be clear in the end. Anyway. There's another Power in Fell's Church and it's trying to destroy the town, or better to kill the inhabitants. A series of creepy events take place and people start to believe in supernatural trying to take over the town. It all starts when people get killed. And then hurt. Starting with some of Elena's loved ones. But why? Easy to understand as soon as the reader gets the picture of “who” this Power is. I won't tell you more, but only one thing Elena succeeds in fighting this Power, destroying it, but dying in the process. Before her last breath she succeeds in another kind of impossible mission: keep the brothers together.
The fourth book is full of sadness from Elena's death. The two brothers have returned to Florence. Bonnie, her powers stronger than ever, gets messages from Elena, who's trying to keep them safe from an even bigger danger lingering in the shadows and aiming at killing all her friends. Bonnie follows her advice and summons Stefan. Along with him comes Damon, still the same cold-blooded detached self, who strange enough seems willing to help. With Elena gone, Stefan as weak as a human, Bonnie and Meredith distrusted by all their friends, Damon unreliable as usual, will they manage to face a force almost as old as the earth? Stay tuned for the fifth volume!
