A cute peace of juvenile fiction. Raven had it all made, a love child with two loving hippie parents. Then it happened, her parents grew up, had nerd boy, & traded in the old VW van in for life in small time subberbia Dullsville. Raven was crushed she now had to spend her nights up late watching Bella Lugosi alone inspiring her wish to be a creature of the night because vampires were the only people that would ever understand her. Years later she got her wish or at least she thinks she got her wish when a mysteries family moves into the abandon mansion in their small town. She meets the mysterious Alexander (her very own goth boy, in the town of soccer snobs). After breaking into his house & finding all the mirrors covered, the family tree with no dates, & the monster paintings she is convinced the mysterious family must be vampires & that she is going to become one of them. This was a really cute story with a good moral but I hated the ending. I’m sorry but I’m a sap for happy endings, & I hate cliff hanger endings. I may pick up the next book to see what happens since it was such a short read if I don’t have anything else better to read.
This book is very different than the graphic novels of the same name. While it tends to be a bit formulaic, it's a fast read, has a strong ending, and should hold up well with it's target audience.
