A concise introduction to Islam. Like for all religions, such an introduction can never be truly free of propaganda, yet the series' emphasis on presenting the basic facts first does separate it from most other religious literature that I've read. The way Islam is presented in this book makes it global prevalence understandable - after all, it shares the basic mythology with Christianity and Judaism, and their believes are more or less the same. Pragmatically, the author also explains key concepts, common terminology, and recent theological and sociological trends, which are helpful for us to understand the lives of 1/4 of our fellow inhabitants of the Earth.

If it weren't for my long (and frustrating) experience with Christianity, I might have been converted by this little book already. Indeed it brought back the familiar sense of awe and submission when one is first touched by religion. Alas, religion is still not my cup of tea, but Islam would be on my short list if one day I do consider becoming religious again.
