Book Description
What's the question every business should be asking itself? According to Jeff Jarvis, it's WHAT WOULD GOOGLE DO? If you're not thinking or acting like Google - the fastest-growing company in the history of the world-then you're not going to survive, let alone prosper, in the Internet age. To demonstrate how to emulate Google, Jarvis lays out his laws of what he calls "the new Google century," including such insights as: Think Distributed; Become a Platform; Join the Post-Scarcity, Open-Source, Gift Economy; The Middleman Has Died; Your Worst Customers Are Your Best Friends and Your Best Customers Are Your Partners; Do What You Do Best and Link to the Rest; Get Out of the Way; Make Mistakes Well...and More. He applies these principles not just to emerging technologies and the Internet, but to other industries - telecommunications, airlines, television, government, healthcare, education, journalism, and yes, book publishing - showing ultimately what the world would look like if Google ran it. The result is an astonishing, mind-opening book that will change the way readers ask questions and solve problems.

Interesting approach to the universe as if Google was some sort of religion. Ok seriously, many ideas are intresting though unfocused because always forced into a deforming view where Google-ism is the key to everything. I found it quite dumb though what kept me going was the curiosity to see how everything can be forced into a single perspective. Good gift for Big G fanboys.

Although I started reading WWGD for a university course, I found the book very interesting and am constantly recommending it to others. The book is made up of lots of interesting anecdotes and although it can become a bit repetitive, the advice is good and should be listened to by businesses. Definitely worth a read for those interested in the new breed of companies such as Google and Facebook.

A great book to read during an off-line week, from the (self proclaimed) hypocrite Jarvis. Nothing new if you have been following his blog, http://www.buzzmachine.com. Buy the book as a souvenir if you will (Godin?); I borrowed my copy from a colleague (tx, Marco). It gave me that 'blue ocean' feeling; there is lots to (dis)agree with. Mentions open innovation once..., but still highly recommended
