  • Go Milk a Fruit Bat!

Two of the memorably worst lines of English poetry, composed in 1799 by one John Hookham Frere: The feather’d race with pinions skim the air— Not so the mackerel, and still less the bear. Hookham Frere’s insensitivity to bathos is impressive; but how ... (read full critics)

Diamond takes us through various aspects of sex: primate, bird, and other. The focus is always to throw light on human sex, practices, and instincts. He busts a few myths here and there, keeps the tone light, and comes up with some surprising information about men and women we never knew. His explanation of how the size of human male genitals have some bearing on the age-old question whether we are naturally monogamous or polygamous (he even covers polyandry - multiple husbands to one wife) is a great read.

There is much here on her own body and sexuality about which your average woman would have no clue - this is very readable lay biology/anthropology that has a couple of eye-openers for both male and female readers. A fun, informative read.

Paperback Binding: Not very good, paper is stiff, spine prone to cracking, the book does not fall open easily and so is a less comfortable read. Good enough to pick up second-hand or if you don't mind wear on your books.
