Book Description
Guns. Acid. Cameras. School. The themes behind the controversial "Hellblazer: Shoot" by Warren Ellis and Phil Jimenez merge with the attitude of the Grant Morrison and Philip Bond masterpiece of teenage revolt, "Kill Your Boyfriend", deliver a story of magic, passion, and disinformation. I bought this cause an interview with the author came up in my google feed. It sounded quite interesting, a different take on kids holding a school to hostage as they want an alternate magical reality to take shape. But I'm afraid it was just disappointing. There were no new ideas here, it was very 60s with the use of acid and Buddhist ideas to disbelieve in reality. Rather than the very optomistic apocalypses of Alan Moore this just felt terribly depressing, the real world was an illusion so you should kill yourself and move on to a better world. As social change strategies go that is really not a very viable one. I'm sure there are better and more interesting and more original young people out there.
