I had lost my glasses. I had lost my glasses!
This, as the bespectacled among you will know, is a horrifying prospect for anyone low in sight. The world's a big place full of...you know...things. Big, blurry things. It's easy for a spectacle-wearer devoid of spectacles to get lost in a world like that. To mistake buses for dragons. Short people for goblins. Men with beards for wizards. This was going to be terrifying!
Ian's punishment, it turned out, was an old fashioned one. He handed me the prized red envelope on my return. I opened it to see the words 'Go to Australia'. It seems he was determined that if I didn't do it myself, he would send me to Lizzie anyway. I knew I would like it from the very first pages. But as I went on reading, I hopelessly fell in love. With the charachter, with the book, with nearly everything. This is more or less my philosophy of life: not "saying yes to whatever comes, without even thinking about it", but taking chances, opportunities, try and see what comes next (with some awkward and funny situation as well, maybe less embarassing, though I'm not so sure about it), and it was so fun reading all these things happening to Danny, and accompany him in his path towards happiness. I will definitely suggest this book to as many people as I can, and I already have at least 2 or 3 friends in my mind... :)
I couldn't put it down...it really push you to say "yes" more and to open up your life!
Love the first 50 pages. Funny and makes me laugh. But boring afterwards. Plain characters. I stopped after reading half of the books.
This book changed my life. Danny Wallace shows what happens when you say yes to anything and everything. After reading this I tried saying yes more, and soon ended up having the time of my life whilst living overseas in Finland for half a year!...Continua
