本名李瑞月。一九四四年生，雲林縣二崙鄉永定村人。一九六四至一九七七年為專業作家。一九八八年美國愛荷華大學「國際寫作計畫」作家。曾任《聯合報》副刊組編輯、《中國時報》副刊組主任兼「人間」副刊主編、時報出版公司副總編輯、《中國時報》主筆、《印刻文學生活誌》編輯總監；現為專業作家。出版小說《屬於十七歲的》、《異鄉之死》、《月亮的背面》；散文《夜歌》、《攝氏20 — 25度》、《寫給你的故事》、《行走的樹》；傳記《我的姊姊張愛玲》（與張子靜合著）、《奇緣此生顧正秋》等二十冊。主編時報文學獎作品集；民國六十五年、六十八年、七十五年、七十六年年度小說選（爾雅版）；一九八二台灣散文選（前衛版）等十餘冊。
