This has become my favorite Clive Cussler book. Isaac Bell is a character that rivals the top characters in fiction today, his nemesis Cromwell is both evil and totally entertaining, a perfect match for Bell. Through non-stop action and a serious look into Bell's own creation, this is a total package of adventure, excitement and plain old good reading. The train theme is wonderful, bringing flashbacks to mind of the Wild, Wild West train from the TV show of the same name, while the setting of San Francisco is refreshing as you go from hill to hill and Cromwell's mansion and bank to an earthquake that changes everything. This is a must read for any Clive Cussler fan.

Clive Cussler once again lives up to his reputation of being America's foremost story teller. This was my first in the Isaac Bell series and became deeply immersed in the tale from page one. It read like good stiff breeze behind you on a summers day, or like that film, "Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines" except with more grit, villains and action. The characters were flawless and the story well thought out, which would explain all the plot twists that worked so smoothly throughout the book. If you have never read a Clive Cussler book, this would be a good one to start with.

Anyone who can read a Clive Cussler novel and not have the urge to read another is either nuts or lacking imagination. He is the king of Story Telling, as his adventures grip you from the first word and hurl you through worlds of sheer excitement and interesting characters. This is my first from the Oregon series and I loved it. Juan Cabrillo is one enigmatic captain with one of the coolest ships roaming the high seas. The fact that Cabrillo is handicapped, lost a leg and has a prosthetic, is both interesting and in Cussler's hands a unusual asset to him. If you have been looking for an adventure series that will leave you wanting more, go no further, Clive Cussler has you taken care of.

As usual with Clive Cussler and the Fargos, a fantastic fast paced read. No one puts the research and history into a story form that is both exciting and adventurous as a Cussler Adventure book. With just enough history, not to bore you added with enough break neck action that leaves you no choice but to hurriedly turn the page, you are at once caught up in the modern treasure hunt of Sam and Remi Fargo. With villains cold and mean enough to make even James Bond leery of his safety, the Fargo's meet each danger they run into with improvised weapons and cunning diversions. If you have never read an adventure novel before, make sure it is a Clive Cussler one, you will be hooked forever.

Once again, Clive Cussler has given an adventure that whets the appetite of the imagination and then delivers a seven course meal of action, suspense, comedy and thrills mixed into exotic locations and numerous foes. Clive Cussler's books read like Indiana Jones meets the team of Bones meets Sherlock Holmes.

If you are a reader that longs for the kind of adventures, you used to read as a kid, Clive Cussler is for you! The good thing about it, is he has brought them up to date with new twists and modern bad guys, all put into an adult storyline that will make you go for that next chapter even as your weary eyelids droop. I am not one of those reviewers that gets a kick out of revealing the big twists or falling back on my haunches and telling you word for word, Clive's own words. What I do, is tell you it got my adrenaline going or not and why, if it did, I then strongly urge you to get off your lazy butt, buy the book and read it to find out why.

I have not read Clive Cussler since his Raise the Titanic days. Wasn't sure what to expect with his new Fargo Adventures series and with some of the claimed adventure series out there lately, did not want it to be as lame as they are. This is also a good time to point out, that just because an author (Patterson for example) has bought a spot on the Best Seller lists, it does not mean it is good. The Kingdom was a joy once I got pass the opening chapter, which deals with a long drawn out history of a air balloon like craft way back in the 1400's. You get the idea that this craft is a major part of the tale to follow, but it is not. I started to hate the book during the opening chapter, then got a pleasant surprise when Chapter 2 came along, or as I like to think of it Chapter 1 and the story shoots us to modern day and the very intriguing and delightful characters of Remi and Sam Fargo. These two characters make the book a worthy read all in themselves, as well as the fact that the story loses the drag of the opening chapter and takes off with a fast pace that keeps you wanting more. Check it out, I'm already looking to for the next Fargo chapter in the series.
