    Cover of "The Tento Saga"
  • Sci-Fi with a twist and an author worth keeping track of
  • The Tento Saga is written with a tone that is straightforward and descriptive enough to draw the reader to what is relevant. The overall theme of mankind's carelessness on Earth - both in destroying the planet and destroying each other in a seemingly unbreakable pattern - is expressed through the hu ... (continue)

    Cover of "Scarlet"
  • Better than its predecessor. I was impressed with Lawhead's ability to shift believably between the first and third person.

Cover of "Dragons of Autumn Twilight"
  • Stay far away from this book
  • Horribly constructed prose, driven by an endless stream of cliches, and lacking any foundation in plot. I had to force myself to finish, reading here and there for a couple months, just because I don't like to leave books unfinished. I reiterate: if you have any standards, do not go near this boo ... Cover of "New Moon"
  • The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 3 was because I never have had just one book invoke every emotion out of my body. I have never cried that hard while reading a book. Extremely realistic writing style.

  • This book is very different than the graphic novels of the same name. While it tends to be a bit formulaic, it's a fast read, has a strong ending, and should hold up well with it's target audience.

    Cover of "Burning Bright"
  • Reminiscent of Dickens
  • This book gets completely overlooked, which is a shame because it's really great. William Blake's poems, Songs of Experience and Songs of Innocence provide the theme of this coming of age tale set in the late 1700's in London. All of Tracy Chevalier's novels are well researched, but I think this is ... (continue)

    Cover of "The Ghost Writer"
  • Eerie Storytelling
  • A smart mystery that is endlessly thought provoking. The narration jumps from the main character Gerard to the ghost stories that he discovers. And the best part: the stories are really good! I got completely immersed in this novel. It's creepy, it's exciting, and it has great atmosphere. Read it!
