beautiful book, it kept me glued to the pages until the last one!
at last, the end came in just two lines, which is perfectly right, it could not be otherwise, i wouldn't believe it otherwise! this is THE vampire story!!

i liked it quite a lot. it might look like a usual setting (the boy nobody wants raises to be most important for the kingdom and with added magical skills inherited from his bloodline though he's a bastard) but the story catches you and keeps you on the pages.

beautiful, unpredictable, sceneries are easily visualized. characters are uncommon, though very "real", each one in his or her own way. nothing happens "for story's sake", you can easily believe every page of it.

a very calm book. ordinary people, ordinary lives and suddenly you find yourself inside the story, as if you, also, were part of the club ^_^
this is the magic of both Jane Austen and K.J. Fowler (it reminded me of Joyce's "The Dead", in this)
