This story is mainly about Sophie Bellamy, Daisy and Max Bellamy's mother. She's been an absentee mother for most of her children's lives. She chose her career as an international lawyer over her family. She finds herself in a hostage situation and survives. After coming through this terrifying time she decides to move to Avalon, NY where her children and ex-husband reside. She unexpectedly finds herself falling for the local veterinarian, Noah Shepherd, who is much younger than she is.
I did not like Sophie Bellamy's character from what I knew about her from the previous books in this series. This book turned her from a career-driven powerhouse lawyer into a caring, loving, present mother. Although I have respect for the position she held as an international lawyer and all that she gave up to pursue that career, it was refreshing to watch her evolve into a mother-figure and ever-present in her children's lives.

Dockside is the third book in Lakeshore Chronicles series by Susan Wiggs. The story continues as it follows Greg Bellamy, the new owner of the Inn At Willow Lake, and Nina Romano, the town of Avalon's former mayor. Greg and Nina briefly know each other, as they both grew up in Avalon. They never were in the same circle of friends, as he is from the distinguished Bellamy family, and she one of the many Romano children, daughter of a local teacher. The story finds Nina wanting to purchase the Inn At Willow Lake, but then she finds out Greg Bellamy has beat her to it. She is very upset about this, as her dream has been to be owner/operator of the inn aver since she worked there as a young girl. The book also finds Greg's daughter, Daisy, pregnant and trying to decide whether or not to inform the father of her baby that he is about to be a father. Daisy confides in Nina and this upsets Greg. There are many flashbacks from Nina and Greg in this book. They all pertain to the different occasions they've run into one another in their younger years. The back and forth between the now and then is basically both Greg and Nina trying to figure out where and if they should be in one another's life. After awhile I just wanted Greg and Nina to sort out their feelings and decide whether or not they wanted to be romantically involved with each other of not! I'm hoping the next book in this series has a better story line than this book did. My favorite book so far in this series has been Book 1, Summer At Willow Lake.

Homecoming Season by Susan Wiggs
I originally looked for this book because I started reading the Lakeshore Chronicle series by Susan Wiggs (so far I've only read #1 Summer At Willow Lake and #2 The Winter Lodge) and saw that the novella, Homecoming Season, would actually be book #2 in this series, but it really doesn't make too much of a difference. when this story is read.
Homecoming Season is about a woman named Miranda who is ending her rounds of chemotherapy and radiation for breast cancer. She will only need to come in for check-ups every three months and is thinking about an adjusting to this. She takes a good look at her family and the toll her breast cancer has taken on them all. Her friend, Sophie Bellamy, suggests she take a week away at her ex-in law's cottage at Camp Kioga on Willow Lake. The week that they spend together helps them all come back together as a family again.
Find The Way by Karen Harper
This story is about a Woman named Alexis. She was a school teacher who was stalked by a janitor from the school she worked in. She ends up falling down stairs in her apartment building after he chases her and becomes blind. Alexis learns of a program called Puppies Behind Bars, where inmates train puppies to become seeing eye dogs or explosive detection canines. She applies for a dog and enters the program. Throughout the process the detective who handled her stalker case has fallen in love with her and is slowly trying to gain her trust. He also is worried that her stalker will return and hurt her again.
Here Come The Heroes by Kasey Michaels
This story was more enjoyable than I thought it was going to be. Charlie is a fourteen year old boy who had a kidney transplant and loved baseball. So much that he kept trying out for the local little league team and kept getting shot down by the coach because of his being too small and because it was known he had a kidney transplant and the child was a liability to the team and because of insurance reasons.
Charlie's Mom, Laura, gets an idea to assemble a team of other kids like Charlie with special needs (seizures, spina bifida, blindness, etc.) The idea is that anyoen can play and they make their own rules for the game.
Laura learns of a program in Saint Louis, MO and contacts them for ideas. Soon she has land for them to build a baseball field on and many donations from local businesses to help support her idea. She just needs to convince her husband that this idea will all work for their son and the other children.
Touched By Love by Catherine Mann
This story is about librarian Anna Bonneau, her former high school boyfriend, now lawyer, Forest Jameson and his blind son Joey. Forest is divorced with custody of his blind son Joey. Anna introduces Joey to braille books, while Anna and Forest try to fight the feelings they still have for one another all these years later. The love and connection Anna has for Joey is very sweet.
A Stitch In Time By Tori Carrington
This story was about a divorcee ER nurse, Jenny, one-year divorcee Dr. Harry Gordon, and and idea Jenny has about helping new Moms who need warm blankets and clothes for their newborn babies. Jenny tries to fight the connection she feels with Dr. Gordon because she feels like it will complicate her single, divorced lifestyle even more. She consults with her Aunt Precious who lives in a nursing home to help crochet baby hats, booties, and blankets for the Stitches From The Heart Program she is trying to establish in her community.
I enjoyed some of the stories in this book more than others, but over all it was a very good book that I would recommend to others.

I got this novella as a freebie for my Kindle on Amazon.com. It's the perfect time of year to read it because it is a short read and Christmas themed.
Lexi Anderson is an Martha Stewart-type TV hostess. Her kids are nuts about an adventure novel series, which at first unbeknownst to them, is their new neighbor, Kyle Miller.
Kyle is battling writer's block with the deadline of the next installment of his series looming.
He gets an idea for his story when he sees a snowman in his new neighbor's yard and destroys it by digging in the snowman's body to see if his characters weapon would fit. Unfortunately, that snowman was supposed to be the backdrop for Lexi's television show being filmed at her home.
Lexi later learns that Kyle is not a fan of Christmas due to the fact that is mother died years ago on Christmas Eve. Since this is a short story, I do not want to give too much more of the plot away. It was an enjoyable read and I will definitely read other books from this author in the future.

This is the last book in the Cedar Cove series. This last installment introduces a divorced Mom named Beth Morehouse who owns a local tree farm. Her daughters are coming home from college for Christmas and have told their father that their mother wants him to come home for the holiday and told their mother their father wants to spend the holiday with them all. A parent trap! There is one snafu with the girls plans though, their father brings a female 'friend' with him.
The book also has cameos of all the characters from the other books in the series. Beth is known in the town as an animal lover and recently someone dropped ten black lab puppies on her doorstep. She needs to find homes for all the dogs before her and her daughters leave for a vacation after Christmas day. The dogs are a great way to bring all the previous characters into this story line.
This book was a nice way to wrap up this series, although I hate to say good-bye too all the characters in Cedar Cove. It's a good thing this series is being made into a television series! I can't wait!(

I wanted to like this book more than I actually did. I think the situation between Bruce, Rachel and Jolene had me pretty furious. I think another reader hit it on the head by describing Bruce as 'wimpy'. What man would not see how his daughter was treating his new wife, let alone let the situation get so bad that his wife feels the need to move out and not tell him where she is living. And she is pregnant with is child! Jolene and her brattiness just had me enraged! Also the situation between Linc Wyse and his father-in-law made me pretty angry as well. Other side stories include Charlotte Rhodes and her increasing memory loss, Gloria and Chad coping with the news of her pregnancy, and Beth who owns a Christmas tree farm and takes in stray animals, has too many strays to handle. I'm looking forward to the next and last book in this series. Bittersweet.

This is the 8th book in the Cedar Cove series. This book continues the stories of Dave and Emily Fleming, Christie Miller, James Wilbur, Olivia Lockhart Griffin, Troy Davis, Faith Beckwith, Shaw Wilson and Tanni Bliss.
Emily Fleming has found diamond earrings in her husband's suit coat pocket and knows they don't have the funds to afford jewelry of this nature. She originally believes her husband is having an affair.
Christie Miller is falling for James Wilbur and he may be falling for her as well.
Olivia Griffin Lockhart is recovering from surgery and will be starting chemotherapy after Christmas.
Troy Davis has broken off his relationship with his former high school girlfriend, Faith Beckwith, because he thinks his daughter Megan would not approve of him dating so soon after his wife's (her mother's death). Little does he know that Megan has become quite fond of Faith.
Shaw Wilson shows Tanni Bliss his artwork and she takes some of his work to her mother, a local fabric artist, to get her opinion on his work.
As usual, I love how there are so many on-going stories in this series and how they continue in each book. The next book in this series is 'A Cedar Cove Christmas'.

This is a continuation of Mary Alice Monroe's story 'The Beach House'. I read 'Beach House Memories' and then 'Swimming Lessons' only because I wanted to read the prequel to 'The Beach House' before continuing on with the story. That said, if you haven't read the other two books, reading 'Swimming Lessons' could be read as a stand-alone book. This book is the story of Toy Sooner. It is five years after she had her baby, Little Lovie. Toy has now finished college and works at the South Carolina Aquarium. She begins a rehabilitation program for sick sea turtles and works closely with her boss Ethan to get a grant to begin a turtle hospital at the aquarium. There are a few twists and turns in this story line (which I won't give away here), but they kind of felt rushed to me for some reason. I liked this story a lot, it's just that at one point too many things started to happen and then were tied up quickly toward the end. This book also continues on with the characters Cara, Brett, Flo and Emmi. An enjoyable read with more learning about the loggerhead sea turtles. I'm hoping there is another book in this series!

This book was a pleasant surprise! I was expecting it to be more of a 'fluff' or 'ditzy chick' type of book, but it actually had a very good story line! I enjoyed the action-adventure aspect of the story, the fact that a lot of the setting was based in the Caribbean on a yacht, and the icing on the cake (so to speak) was the main male character, Max Zamora.

This is the sequel to Barbara Bretton's book 'Shore Lights'. I suggest you read Shore Lights prior to reading 'Chances Are'.
The continuation of this story finds Maddy Bainbridge and Aiden O'Malley engaged and planning their wedding. Maddy is unsure of the 'big' wedding her mother wants for her. Meanwhile, Aiden's daughter Kelly is having life difficulties of her own and doesn't feel that she can share her troubles with anyone since she has always been the girl who has always done the right thing. She doesn't want to disappoint anyone. Aiden's sister-in-law Claire is dealing with a lot of emotions and is also given a proposal from Maddy's Mom Rose and Olivia Westmore to help run a new tea shop they plan on opening.
There are a lot of characters in this story and they all carry over from the first book. I would like to see a third book in this series to see what happens to Kelly and her Aunt Claire down the road.
