Pleasant to read, this "teany" book tells also in brief the story of tea houses in NYC (which actually I knew nothing about). I enjoyed the reading and appreciated Moby's project and ideas, besides the fact that I share his being vegetarian, well vegan, and the philosophy that goes with it. I'd only have chosen different playlists, save for a couple of artist ;-)!

Cover of Vampire Wars
  • Not too bad. The Author has learnt his Tolkien's "Lord of the Ring" lesson pretty well (the quest, the ring, the hopeless battle of Good and Evil, dwarves, elves, men uniting against a common enemy, etc...) and this makes the whole trilogy predictable and therefore a bit boring. Not too bad. On the other hand, thanks to the genuine "vampire factor", a massive taste for gore and a true atmosphere of damnation and doom the work of Savile stands out of the vampiresque soft-porn vogue of other contemporary authors such as S. Meier and the like, and is worth reading for bloodsuckers fans.

The first time I was told Rosa Parks'story I was at school, ages ago. I still remember, and I always will, her strength, her courage, the absolute lack of violence in her words and acts. A bright star to light our paths in these dark times, when civil and human rights are in danger, despised and often forgotten (think of the shameful idea of some ignoble Italian politician: Italians/foreigners segregated on bus; it makes me feel sick and sad and worried).
My hope and prayer after reading about her once again is to have no need for more Rosa Parks again or, should we ever face such a dreadful situation such as segregation and lack of civil rights, to meet thousands of Rosa Parks.

Purrfect entertainment for cat lovers: cats, fights, love, adventure, fun, suspense. Can't wait for my third book of this saga to be delivered! Once I started, I couldn't keep my hands and eyes off it. It really hooked me. I love Erin Hunter's books about wild cats clans. It's like peeping from through the key hole and every time I now look at my cats sitting by the window I can't avoid trying to figure out if they are dreaming of some clan not far away.

I had a lot of fun reading this book: the plot is easy but captivating and I literally couldn't stop until I reached the end. Wild cats' life as described by the author is likely and behind the lines it points out how many costraints domestic cats have to bear, from can food to the ominous trip to the Cutter (=the Vet) to be neutered. I know it can't be avoided and I am the first to blame, since I have 5 cats but won't let them out because of the road to near. Nevertheless I felt guilty. I have already ordered the next book of the saga and I can't wait for it to be delivered to read further the Warriors adventures.

Amazing story of love and friendship between two Australians and a lion they rescued and saved from a desperate destiny of captivity and released into the wild thanks to George Adamson's help. You will learn much about love and the need we all have to go beyond the blind barrier of species: we share intelligence, feelings, friendship, emotions with all beings on Earth. Christian's story moved me deeply, because I love animals and felines in particulat, because I adore Nature, because I admire those who fight and sacrifice even their own lives to save and care for our Mother Earth, because I need to hope and to believe that it is really possible to make the Big Change happen.
You, out there, please read Christian's story and let the lion speak to your true Self: Heart.

Cover of Touring Sesriem and Sossusvlei.
Cover of The Night Wanderer
  • I have enjoyed this book very much; a Native vampire is intriguing and the story, though predictable and teenager oriented, is absolutely entertaining. Unusual atmospheres and setting for a classic gothic character make Taylor's work well worth reading.

By Hemingway I read once The Old Man and the Sea and For whom the Bell Tolls and I enjoyed them, as far as I remember, but this collection is too full of death, weapons, hunting, blood and desperation for me. Or maybe it's my state of mind that has changed through the years and I cannot stand any longer such darkness.

Beautiful. It is very interesting to learn about the birth of the Project Tiger. The efforts of so many scientists, funds, common people around the world to preserve the "Spirit of the Forest", the mighty tiger (so powerful, almost divine and so helpless against poachers, private revenges, big and small human dramas), deserve attention and support. Should this amazing cat disappear from this world (and it would be none but our bloody fault), it would be another mortal sin against life for which I wish someone will one day judge mankind. I feel so small and useless before so many bad situations in the world today which affect all forms of life, from man to the smallest insect. But to do something, even the slightest thing, is better than doing nothing at all. Dig for info about tiger conservation if you feel the Spirit of the Forest has the same right to live on Mother Earth as you have, and do something, if you can.
Also I would suggest reading this beautiful book by Mathiessen who is really devoted to environment conservation, fascinated by tigers and in love with life, I would say. His writing is fluent and passionate. Also the photographs (which are not by Mathiessen) are stunning. A book worth reading.
