Do we trust our schools? Do we trust teachers and their capacity? The fourth way pushes toward professionalism and high quality of teachers that are involved in high-quality learning. With teacher's associations, it could be incremented the collaboration between them, stimulating them and making them rediscover passion for learning and teaching.
I appreciate one of the fourth catalysts that creates coherence in this new educational change and I think that is one of the most important points that politician have to think about: diversity.
I am an anthropologist and I know how important it is to consider cultural differences, expecially in the school. In a globalized world we can not ignore anymore the multiculturality that is experienced in every school. Standardization of various curricula can not be an answer now, because we shall consider cultural and ethnical differences within students. There is no more a single culture, but a melting pot of cultures and traditions, this is now reality in many countries. Schools must be the the first institutions to deal with this social changes, with adequate educational policies, motivating teachers in getting more and more specialized and being able to work within diversity. School is now and will be future multiethnic and multilinguistic, they must be aware of that.
This book is a great starting point for thinking and starting to create new educational solutions that governments must take in high consideration these advices and put them in practice, because the education is a starting point for developing a civil and democratic society.
