Embla Italy

Although I'm very fond of Melissa Marr's Faery world and enjoyed her previous novels, I have to -sadly- admit that her third output isn't as intriguing as its predecessors. For almost 400 pages we're constantly reminded that Seth is mortal but wants to be with Ash forever, thus become an immortal Faery himself, while Ash is torn between her Faery duties in the Summer court and her love for Seth and Summer King Keenan who loves Winter Queen Donia but must try to have some sort of relationship with Ash. This is repeated over and over again all through the book ad nauseam. You'd think that when Seth finally strikes the deal with Sorcha things are going to go smoothly... think again! For another 100+ pages the almighty Queen and Seth himself turn into the most boring characters ever, while nothing happens in the Summer and Winter courts - although we're sometimes brought into their surroundings only to read more of Ash and Keenan's usual inner torments. Seriously, we get it! Now can we actually read the story?!

Preso per curiosità, quando ci sono di mezzo i vampiri ammetto di ragionare a malapena! Ebbene, avrei potuto benissimo lasciarlo sullo scaffale. Anche se i racconti brevi possono sembrare stuzzicanti, il punto è che sono tutti tristemente banali, scritti male, ripetitivi nel presentare un vampiro sempre e solo pervertito e spinto da follia omicida. Per quanto mi riguarda, esperimento fallito, per fortuna le mie librerie Ikea (cit.) sono già abbastanza piene di volumi ben più interessanti e questo finirà nel ripostiglio!

Da dove iniziare... Forse dalla pessima traduzione italiana, scarna e legnosa, che sottrae quel poco di colore dato dal linguaggio dell'autrice ad una storia di per sè alquanto mediocre, nata evidentemente sulla scia del successo di Melissa Marr ma che nulla ha a che spartire con il mondo di Wicked Lovely, decisamente più complesso e particolare.
Un racconto approssimativo, confuso, dove i personaggi non prendono mai veramente forma e non coinvolgono emotivamente.
Sarà pure una trilogia, ma non riesco a trovare un solo motivo per continuare la lettura, dato che già terminare il primo volume è stato alquanto "faticoso".
