Hello all,
I've read quite a few authors during my school years, but ever since I left the country, my portion of Indian reading has been dwindling. Hopefully, I can reignite it again here.
Oh, and my favorite author is RK Narayan in Enlgish. In Tamil, which is my mother tongue, it would be Kalki.

Hi everybody, reading Indian authors I felt in love with the country and decided to do my PhD research project on India. Now I'm reading as much Indain books as I can to see if I can get something of this fascinating universe.

Hello everybody.

I am French, and very interested in everything about India.
The books I've read about India so far have mostly been written by French, British or American authors-- still, a few of them are by authors from India.

I have just began "Sacred Games", by Vikram Chandra; the reviews were good, and I am very impressed by what I have read so far.
It reminds me of what Tom Wolfe did for American society with "The Bonfire of the Vanities".

Wouldn't "Sacred Games" be a good discussion topic for a group about India?

Hi all, I write from Italy. I am strongly interested in indian culture, both philosophy and literature.

I have become closer to them thanks Giuseppe Tucci's books. He was an italian indologist and explorer who was fluent in many asian languages and who taught philosophy and languages, in India. He introduced me this wonderful world.

Thus, I read his main works and articles. I have just read the Bhagavad Gita, also.

For what concerns literature, I read Arundhati Roy, Tagore, and I joined this group hoping someone can suggest me something interesting :)

Bye.

I'm in this group because last year I spent 6 month in India, Nepal and Bangladesh and since then am very interested in books by subcontinental writers or which are placed in the region. I most recently finished "The White Tiger" which i thought was excellent and will soon start either "Sacred Games" or "Transmission" (by Hari Kunzru).
