Ok, now this book is incomplete, it is a bit old. There is still plenty to say about my favorite film director Tsui Hark. And Lisa Morton focuses too much on the feminine aspect of Tsui's work. Ok, now this book is incomplete, it is a bit old. There is still plenty to say about my favorite film director Tsui Hark. And Lisa Morton focuses too much on the feminine aspect of Tsui's work. However, this is still a wonderful reading. Morton offers some intelligent points of view on many of Tsui's films. Everytime Tsui speaks there is something new to learn. Camera angles and color filters, ideas, scripts, visual techniques, production, casting and score are covered with a rich amount of details. A very nice way to try to explain why Tsui Hark is undoubtedly one of the best directors ever.
Don't be misled by his pocket size and the two languages contents. This is an essential reading for everyone in love with cinema.
