This was what I expected and more. JR Ward's writing is maturing with each book. This has been my favorite of the BDB series. Ward continues her tradition of including previous books characters and back stories. I was amazed at how this book brought back things that were in books in the beginning of the series. The main story was John Mathews and Xhex and it was great. The back story of Blay and Quinn was very well done too.

I was a little confused about the out of place story of a ghost hunting tv show in another city but it finally tied in at the end. It wasn't my favorite but it was still better than the earlier Lesser stories from the first books.

I love this story and feel like the characters are growing and developing nicely. I am really looking forward to future BDB books. They're very addictive.

I loved this book for three reasons. First, it had a wonderful Novella of two of the characters from previous books.Second, it gave a great inside look at each of the characters and how they came to be. Thirdly, JR Ward gives great advice for aspiring writers. She includes her "rules" for writing and gives a glimpse into the inside world of getting published. Its a great book for both BDB fans and aspiring writers.

JR Ward definitely is growing as writer in this one. My favorite part of this book is what others have commented on as "too much". Ward includes several of the Brother's stories but does focus primarily on Rehvenge & Elaina's story. Rehvenge really grows in this one. While its his love story its great that Ward has let him stay the "bad" boy in this one giving him a real feel as the unlikely hero. Although he's not the one doing the saving in this one. There's some great action and even a new depth to Lash. In her usual style Ward has eloquently introduced the story line for the next book, John & Xhex's story without taking away focus from Rehv. Once again, I'll be anxiously awaiting the next book.
