雖然愛好古代史，但是理科的較難有正規渠道走獲取相關知識。這書正合我意，以簡單生動角度解構羅馬史。
不過我認為羅馬衰落的前因比書中所提更早。當她開始擴張而共和制的處理方法向寡頭發展就開始失衡。而元首制正正是書中所提的衰退的原因：令人民沉醉於歡樂中。
