跟臺灣比較，香港談建築的書太少了。特別是談新建築且有評論的。雖然有些論點我不盡同意，但尊重作者有其鮮明的批判角度。又欣賞此書選材志蓮淨院、中央圖書館、文化博物館。

蘇彝 （啞行者）的畫與觸角細膩有情韻。想像一個中國長袍飄飄的學人（這書出版於1938年），廁身英倫，蘇彝不但沒有格格不入，反而敏感兩民族的異同，描繪出兩地自然景物人情美和詩意。寫出畫出很有感染力的作品。

陳冠中，在我心目中，是老號外，高深西洋品味與文化哲學根基，而他老早闖征大陸，更覺他是世外高人。讀了這書才瞭解他的背景，他事業成就的根源。然而這書最大意義，是他輕描淡，以紀實手法與自己相關的經歷，同步也譜寫了香港過去五十年來的文化發展。這是一本有價值的香港近代流行社會發展參考書。
