    2 parts on the arts: Art with a capital A, and art in general, such as in the case for literature. I find part one unutterably dull, though written in a light and entertaining style. It is more informative than analytical. Part two is unbearable with its endless reference and lack of explication...

  • A number of colleagues had expressed their praises of the joy of reading this book. I, however, remained untouched -- perhaps due to my painting background? I really did not find it interesting in any way... Well, these lines did make me smile:

    A number of colleagues had expressed their praises of the joy of reading this book. I, however, remained untouched -- perhaps due to my painting background? I really did not find it interesting in any way... Well, these lines did make me smile:
    "I could frown at the fact Elam School of Fine Arts in Auckland recently dissolved its painting department and declared the whole school a multimedia zone, now called (ahem!) the National Institute of Creative Arts and Industries. (Why is it that whenever an institution cuts back on staff, it makes up for it by lengthening its name?)"
    It's the latest contemporary chapter in the appendix of Institutional Theory.
