These sermons provide a great insight into 16th century preaching. They are Calvin at his best, as a pastor preaching to his congregation. Some of the refugees who listened employed Denis Raguenier, a professional scribe, to record and translate Calvin's Sermons in 1549. The Sermons on Deuteronomy were preached in 1555-6 so they employed Denis for a number of years and must have thought it worth it. These Sermons abound in faithful and lively exposition, and remain one of the finest example of Evangelical preaching - faithful to the biblical text and thoughtfully applied to the individual and society.

This is a quality facsimile Edition and is now out of print and very hard to find.There are only two on Amazon at £179.54 and £199.31 so this is a real bargin, snap it up while you can.

This is an excellent treatment of some often confusing verses.
There is clear explanation of their meaning and application too.
They well repay some time spent in reading them carefully as the Doctor shows the true meaning as well as showing why some other plausible explanations are mistaken.I would recommend these books of sermons on Romans to any who want come to a better understaning of the Biblical Book of Romans
