The Last Street Novel

This is a street book with positive messages. I appreciated the insights into lifestyles I would otherwise never know, but cast in the light of the struggle to suceed legally and morally. Much of what this book says about the struggle between men and women transcended racio-cultural lines.

The Last Assassin
Eisler's conflicted, emotionally stunted Japanese-American assassin grows as a person and gets better and better each new novel.
The Language Police
While I disagree with Ravitch on some points, as an ex-industry insider I know she paints an uncomfortably accurate picture.
While I gave this only a so-so rating, if it had been written by a lesser author I might have rated it higher. I guess my expectations of Leonard colored my judgment. Does this make me a bad person?
The Given Day
Very different then Lehane's modern say mysteries, but still set in his beloved Boston, this book looks at a swathe of Boston society in 1918. Rich characters in a turbulent time make for a most enjoyable read.
