I read the last 100 pages without stopping and the more I read the sadder I felt. And when I finished reading I felt a little sorry and a little lonely as if I had actually lost someone or something.
At the end, I think this is quite a sad story (growing up isn't exactly a happy thing, after all).
And it is also a story about identity, love, loss and freedom.
Even though it may immediately seem too simple and naive, I found this book quite thoughtful and a pleasure to read.

They are tremendous tales of enchantment, mystery and danger, where ordinary people have to overcome incredible obstacles. (...) These stories belong in the air, between a mouth and some ears. (...) As Abram would have said, 'That is all. Find out more if ye wish!'

The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy: And other stories By Burton Tim
  • Grottesco, tristissimo, crudele, buffo, assurdo, tenero, poetico. Tim Burton. Semplicemente.

Così è stato per "The Road". E alla fine ho pianto. Ho pianto davvero. "He was crying and he couldnt stop". E io con lui.
