    I really enjoy Mishima's short stories much more than his novels. He is very talented, but it's just very frustrating to read. The ideas and psychology and personalities he comes up with of course are incredible, but personally, the story itself just doesn't do anything for me.

    Honestly it makes me very uncomfortable. I am fine with crazy characters and unrealistic events, but if the story doesn't move, it's just not worth it. I kept waiting for the climax, and when it finally came, it was just over so quickly... and of course, the characteristic open ending.

    Excellent if you like what Mishima does with novels, definitely not if you prefer novels that swallow you whole.
