Augustus的貪吃、Veruca的驕傲虛榮、Violet的目中無人、以及Mike的自我中心，這些都是他們父母的縮影。反觀Charlie因家境貧窮，使得他沒有像其他得到金獎券的孩子般，有著優渥的物質生活可享受。因為家裡的父母、爺爺奶奶、外公外婆，他知道親情遠比金錢來的更加重要，金獎券對他來說只是一張冒險旅程的門票，並不代表一切，旅程結束了就是回家，這是屬於他的單純想法。
現代小孩的夢想失去得太快，少了那些夢想提早長大，是否會讓『童年』二字只能在過去的詞彙裡找到？
