Watch out for jargon -
This is an interesting book supposing that "magic" can be described by mathematics and technology. I liked the story, and the concept was great, but sometimes wading through the tech jargon was ridiculous. Likewise, occult magical items were often not explained, so it took several events involving ... (continue)

Excellent ending! -
Please make sure you read all three of these books to enjoy the many twists and turns. If you are not the type to be able to hold the thread of complex books in your mind over a long period of time, you may want to read these back-to-back to fully see the over-arching storyline. Fantastic! Orderin ... (continue)

Best Cherryh I've read in a long time. -
It looks like Cherryh is beginning another section of the "Fortress" series, now going on with Cefwyn's two sons. Though it seemed to take a long time to get things really going, the book was satisfying in the end, bringing back characters we remember from the first series, and concluding well. I ... (continue)

Easy to Read Autobiography -
This book is a very satisfying book to read. It is straightforward with no going on and on about minutia, but rather a sort of overview of the major events and themes in Gene Wilder's life. It is not a piece of humor, though it has some humorous moments. I saw in the pages a gentle, interesting p ... (continue)

An okay book -
Not a bad book, but Thomas the Rhymer was much better if you'd like to read an Ellen Kushner book. This book has has some swordplay, a little intrigue, a little romance, and a lot of perversion. Though not explicit, I warn all future readers. There is all sorts of debauchery practiced or viewed b ... (continue)

This is the first of the Hutchins books by Jack McDevitt that I have read. It was very good, though sometimes I found myself dragging through sections dealing with what were really minor characters, while those I considered the "main characters" were struggling with a life or death situation. I will probably read the rest of this series in time, but as of yet Polaris and Seeker are my favorites.
