Harry Potter as a girl, at last!

Definitely my favourite in the saga, along with Twilight.

Definitely my favourite in the saga, along with Twilight.
But while that was a beautiful teenage romance, this book looks more like a novel. Breaking Dawn is about love ripening and coming to its full.

At the same time, it really and finally belongs in the fantasy genre: werevolves and evil Italian vampires were not enough to convince me this was not a fluffy chocolate-covered teenage-love-affair saga.
Here is magic and fairy tale, fight and strategy, supernatural and suspense.

The two things we waited for - for the incredible lenght of the three previous novels - do happen at last, but in a swift, almost nonchalantic way, in the beginning of these 699 pages: they were not really the issue here, what did we think?

And guess what?, thorought the whole saga you were made to believe that the hero of the story was Edward, knight in shining harmour; but it really was Bella.
She is no longer an annoying, clumsy, fainty and frankly unlikely all-delicate girlie we have seen so far. She becomes - halleluja!- an empowered woman. Well, her unique supernatural talent turns out to be what we always considered (let's face it) her biggest weakness: her incredible self-control and outfashioned temperance, so to say.
These are the symbols of her love, and are able to project outside of her self, shield her beloved ones.

Ok, then Meyer allows herself to give us her last moral lesson: Bella can have sex at last, she can enjoy it, she can even bear a child but she will refuse to abort it (...).
Mind you, I was raised a Catholic and I can appreciate a little sound sense of shame and guilt when I see it. But this is slightly too much.
Whatever, Stephanie. I forgive you for this, for the couple of typos I spotted, and for the marble chests (yet again!). I really enjoyed this book.

P.S. Fans shouldn't worry: I'm sure there'll be a fifth episode, about Renesmee, Jackob and the Vulturi coming back for a last battle ;)

    groan

non so come uscirne, ho bisogno d'aiuto.

Warner owns the rights (and it shows)

The last HP adventure has a couple of copy\pasted elements from Lord of the Rings (the evil horcrux that makes its bearer an evil person..yawn), too many openly cinematic devices showing that while writing someone was already thinking about the screenplay (adults can't help but notice who the rights-bearer is) and far too many useless lengthy paragraphs to justify the 700+ pages.
That said, the book is breath-taking - although you may want to re-read The Order of the Phoenix first. Any affectionate HP reader will want to take arms in the battle of Hogwarts and in the parting from Hedwig and Dobby. Makes you forgive JKR or whoever concerned for the posh resolving chapter with Harry father of 3 at the age of 36. Ouch. So no fear, Potter fans: just get ready for the next blockbuster, "James Potter and the perpetual bothering". Give them guys in Hollywood a couple of years to come up with an appropriate marketing campaign.
