Pintapuolisesti kyse on 1300-luvun munkkiluostariin sijoittuvasta salapoliisijännäristä. Kirkkohistoriasta ja hyvästä tarinoista kiinnostuneille silkkaa nannaa!

This book is not for beginners, but for intermediate students who already know the basics of group theory (and preferably a bit of linear algebra, although that's not really necessary). It covers a nice range of subjects, such as group actions, series, transfer and splitting theorems and so on. Representation theory is, however, omitted.
I bought this book during writing my M.Sc. thesis, which I had almost completed at the time. Scott's book covers a lot of topics not in my other books of choice on group theory, but I just hate the layout (I find it confusing and hard to follow) and notation (for which I can't blame the book).
