I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book on a late Sunday morning in bed. Ginny and I went to see Cats without having read this beforehand. We didn't know what to expect. The show would have been even better had we read Old Possom's Book of Pratical Cats before. It's very interesting to see how the book had been adapted for the stage. It's fanciful.

Cover of Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress
  • A quick, enjoyable read despite what could be a very heavy subject-matter. I look forward to discussing the book with friends.

Cover of The Tipping Point
  • I liked the book. It was easy to read, but I don't feel as though I've learned a lot. It all seemed...fairly obvious.

While the Bible, like the family name, is passed from one to son to another, this book is a story of strong and unique females. Shreve has created a family that even beyond the Pennsylvanian roots feels strangely familiar. A pleasure to read.

Cover of Sock Monkey
  • I love the way that Tony Millionaire manages to take a childhood icon, Sock Monkey, and make him the dark sidekick to an equally twisted doll. It really gets the imagination wheeling. I can't get the picture of the ants in Inches out of my head.

Cover of La Perdida
  • I like the way that Jessica Abel incorporates Spanish into the text. It has a very authentic feeling without being alienating. I want to go back to Mexico.
