I read this book before seeing the motion picture. Basically the story is different except the serial killing and meat pie making. I have to say I like the musical version better. The original novel is more like a detective story. It's about how Sweeney Todd's crime is gradually revealed. Being a penny dreaful, the plot moves fast but there is not much into the characters' psychological beings.
