this was a good book. very fast paced and very scary. I still have goose bumps and I don't even believe in ghosts and psychics...... anyway, I recommend it. it's one of a series of books by kay Hooper about a team of psychics who use their 'gifts' to catch killers.....

this was an alright book. very well written. but i found the creatures in it to be to unbelievable. i wish they had been either scarier, or something I could at least grasp........ but I still enjoyed the fast paced read of James Rollins.

I just read this book for the second time, wondering if I would love it AS much! And I was caught and held spellbound just as I was the first time. If anything, I enjoyed it more! I just read this book for the second time, wondering if I would love it AS much! And I was caught and held spellbound just as I was the first time. If anything, I enjoyed it more! Diane Setterfield outdid herself with the characters and their development in this tale. There are so many sub characters, and sub plots, that you wonder how she could possibly tie it all together, and yet, amazingly, she does!
It's dark and twisted, and gloriously descriptive.
And one of the things I loved about this book, was, once the story was over, she talks about her own reading experiences, saying sometimes it can be unsatisfying not knowing what happened to some of the sub characters in a book. Then she proceeds to tell us. It was good to know and comical at the same time. Mainly because I WAS wondering what happened to the gardener and the cat!

I thought this was a good book, in that I liked the story itself. I could relate also. In that time period, when they jsut didn't understand, they didn't feel they had any choices. It was well written, but I found it slow, not very descriptive....
and it read too much like a true story....

I did like them! I had them on my wish list and when you recommended them I had to request them for the library and go get them. Both of them were awesome! I think there's one more I haven't read yet. I'll have to track it down! Thanks for the recommendation chickie!

Yeah, they left at the crack of dawn this morning and sadly, the thing I missed most was just reading a little bit each day! Isn't that sad? LOL. I feel sorry for you. Get stocked on the books and avoid her like the plague. When do you come back?

I don't think you would like Back Roads. If you didn't like Sharp Objects you probably won't like Back Roads. Similar writing style. Very dark and descriptive.

That Kay Hopper book sounds really interesting. Does it have to be read as part of a series or can I just pick this one up?

I'm glad I read alot of the trendy books, just because I read them doesn't mean I have to jump on the bandwagon and endorse them. People will do that all on their own. If anything I can say how much I hate them! LOL. The Anna Quinlen book was a joke, you are right. I finished The Shack and reviewed it and that's what I love. That review might irritate people. I can see what you were saying about the controversy but after reading it, I think it's totally ridiculous. The book was okay for me. I reviewed it higher simply because I had to admire the author for bringing such controversial topics to light. Personal I think he was right on so many levels, fiction or no fiction.
