The Whisperer

A thriller with a stunning and very unexpected ending! Love the plot, the twists and turns and even the dark reads.
The only thing I would have liked is if the author had given us a sense of place in order to have a better feel for the story.
A great read!.

An excellent story! I liked it better than her two previous ones and those are pretty good too!
Can't wait to read the next one of the series.

A very enjoyable who dunnit - perfectly paced to keep you wanting to keep reading.
A better read than the first one of the series.

I've read a lot of Nordic and Scandinavian Noir lately and it was a nice change of pace having a female protagonist.
The historical facts (?) of the story were a bit confusing at times but the plot was well executed and it managed to hold my interest until the end.

Great idea for a storyline but sadly this book never came together for me.

With so much hype going around I decided to finally read it and see what all the commotion was about.
I have the feeling it's not the writing but mostly curiosity and the fantasy of the story that's making women dab into this book. I'm sure most readers of this book would not in real life like to be in a relationship with a Christian Grey.
I'm not really sure if I like the story or if I am even going to find out how it ends in book 3. But to be honest and in spite all the unhealthy and weird stuff it did kept me turning pages.
It was like catching on tv one of those really bad reality-tv shows like "The Housewives Of..." which show how dysfunctional reality can be but somehow and even though you are perturbed you are also curious and can not stop watching.
Fifty shades of totally crazy for sure!

I was lucky to win an advance copy from Goodreads and I couldn't put it down. James Thompson is one of my favorite writers.
Just like in Snow Angels and Lucifer's Tears Thompson has given us another well written, character driven, action-packed and powerful story. He once more opens our eyes to Finland's not so "silent hatred" and to the grim reality of racism and anti-immigration fervor in a place most of us assume to be a paradise where hate and violence have no place.
I like his direct - to the point style and a compelling first person narrative which efficiently immerse us in Vaara's thoughts and emotions. Three-dimensional characters, a complex plot and plenty of action make this book an engaging read.
I found myself missing the winter descriptions and sense of place which Snow Angels and Lucifer's Tears had so much of and relished while reading; but most of all I missed the Kari Vaara from the first two books (before surgery) who could easily be tell apart from the ruffians and whom I really liked.
The book ends on a hopeful note so I'll be anxiously awaiting for the next installment of the series and hoping the greatly flawed but likable Kari Vaara from Snow Angels and Lucifer's Tears returns

Definitely Not Mr. Darcy

I'm not a fan of reality dating shows but I would definitely watch "Dating Mr. Darcy"!
A fluffy, easy read but also smart, witty and humorous! Pure fun!
