Cover of "The Darkest Evening of the Year"
    • Not one of Koontz's best, but given his prolific writings, not unexpected. Not a bad story, just forgettable but not unenjoyable.

Cover of "Blasphemy"
    • Interesting premise that bottomed out at the end. I guess I was expecting better

This book is remarkable. It reminds me strongly of Mere Christianity in the simple but profound ways that it outlines the gospel of Jesus. Even as a believer, this book made me think about my faith in new ways. For those that are skeptical about religion, this book drives home what I believe that modern religion, as most people experience it directed "at" them, is the polar opposite of the teachings of Jesus and how we should live them out in this world.

Cover of "Christ the Lord"
    • A great follow-up to Rice's wonderfully fresh first novel in this series. I actually ended up reading this straight through in about 3 hours. It surprised me by starting much later in Jesus' life but covered some important points very well. Again, I wholeheartedly recommend this.

Cover of "Gods Behaving Badly"
    • A lighthearted story that was remarkably funny throughout. What isn't funny about the pantheon of Greek gods living in modern London with all their idiosyncrasies played out.

Cover of "unChristian"
    • A truly unique look into the common perceptions of the Christian faith in today's world. An eye opener for any Christian truly seeking how to live out the Gospel in your everyday life.

Cover of "The Scandalous Gospel of Jesus"
    • I very much enjoyed the first half of this book and it's insights into the nature of the "good news" of Jesus. I felt it kind of fell apart towards the middle and end but still a worthwhile reading.

Cover of "Rant"
    • Thanks for the recommendation, Guy. This was a fun read with a good sci-fi angle and yet enough fresh content to make it interesting. Not at all what I expected when I picked it up.

FAQ See all

I see a shelf I like. How can I keep track of its updates?

If you know the person, add as a friend. Otherwise, add as a neighbor. Either way, you will get to stay on top of future updates via RSS feeds.

I see a shelf I don't want to ever see again. What can I do?

Choose "block", and this shelf will be filtered out for all purposes.

How does the voting work?
Find a comment helpful / unhelpful? Cast your vote. Only one vote from each person will be counted. Every hour we gather all the votes, add them up, add some magic source, and there we have the new sorting for the comments on the page of this book!
What's the difference between friends and neighbors?
Friends are people you know. Neighbors are people you don't know but you'd like to keep track of their updates anyway.
Would I would leave a trace when I visit other people's shelf?
You get to choose. If you can choose to visit anonymously, you will not get to see who has visited your shelf. Fair deal.
