Helen of Troy was phenomenal! A rich novel of the legendary beauty whose face was said to have launched a thousand ships. I will admit it took me a bit to get into it at first, but once I started I did not want to put it down. I must also admit I believe it was mostly do to the fact I did not expect expect the book to start out with her childhood. In the end the book would of been incomplete without knowing about how Helen began her life. Margaret George wove Helena's life into a tapestry detailing the hardship of being the famed daughter of Zeus,a queen,a loving mother,an adulteresses wife,a princess,a loyal wife, & a wise old women. This book gave me a new outlook on characters that I both loved & hated. Before I adored Paris, Achilles, & Odysseus, yet hated Helen & Menelaus. Now I see all the characters in history through a new light & you may that you do to if you read it. If you enjoy the Greeks or Trojans you will love to read this.
