    • My first Dick Francis novel and I liked it quite a bit. The mystery was a little predictable, but everything else about the book was great. I listened to the audio version and the reader did a fantastic job.

Cover of "Lincoln Legends"
    • Even if you don't know much about Abraham Lincoln, you'll likely find this book to be interesting. You'll probably also find that you've heard a lot of bogus stories about Abraham Lincoln and how the author has disseminated those myths.

Despite being the all-time classic sci-fi novel, I never grew too attached to this book. It was a little too far-fetched at times even for a science fiction novel. In part, it might have been due to the fact that the audio version wasn't all that great. Sometimes the narrator performed all the dialogue and sometimes other performers jumped in which led to a lot of confusion at first. Some of the voice talents were a little cheesy as well. Regardless, you have to wonder how Frank Herbert pulled all of this out his head. Undoubtedly, he has influenced many of the major sci-fi epics that we know of today. Worth the read, but I doubt I'll join all the Dune enthusiasts.

    • I still can't make up my mind on this one. I think I need to watch the movie it stems from and get some more information on the writer. I must say that there is something to "the secret" though. You'll have to read it yourself to see what I'm talking about. I listened to the audio version and it ... Continue

I must say that there is something to "the secret" though. You'll have to read it yourself to see what I'm talking about. I listened to the audio version and it seemed a little too mystical for me. On the other hand, I did take a lot of great things from it about being positive, self-confidence, achieving happiness, etc. I would recommend this to anyone, but I still can't put my finger on where all this fits in to what I've learned about life.

Pretty good book. The story seemed very original and it had you wondering how things would end right up until the conclusion. I do wish things had been wrapped up a little bit more at the end since I've had it recommended that I not read the following books in the series due to their very obvious agenda. The audio version is performed by a large cast, most of whom do an excellent job portraying their character.

FAQ See all

I see a shelf I like. How can I keep track of its updates?

If you know the person, add as a friend. Otherwise, add as a neighbor. Either way, you will get to stay on top of future updates via RSS feeds.

I see a shelf I don't want to ever see again. What can I do?

Choose "block", and this shelf will be filtered out for all purposes.

How does the voting work?
Find a comment helpful / unhelpful? Cast your vote. Only one vote from each person will be counted. Every hour we gather all the votes, add them up, add some magic source, and there we have the new sorting for the comments on the page of this book!
What's the difference between friends and neighbors?
Friends are people you know. Neighbors are people you don't know but you'd like to keep track of their updates anyway.
Would I would leave a trace when I visit other people's shelf?
You get to choose. If you can choose to visit anonymously, you will not get to see who has visited your shelf. Fair deal.
