Like watching a car crash, it was impossible to stop myself from reading this book. Badly written, and egocentric beyond belief, the only thing of interest was finding out how Donovan's music related to that of his peers. The Black Veil
Definitely an unusual auto-biography, and that's pretty much what makes it interesting. Otherwise, unless you're a big Moody fan, try one of his novels, which are much easier going. The Diviners for example.
