I "Pilastri della Terra" era molto bello, questo è il sequel. Un ottimo sequel. A volte un po' prevedibile, ma tutto sommato bello e avvicente. Una lettura da spiaggia, "tutto-sommato".

I pilastri inauguravanoun nuovo genere, anzi lo rispolveravano in forma moderna: quello del romanzo storico.
Il sequel potrebbe essere letto anche prima dei "pilastri". Anzi sembra proprio che K.Follet lo tratti come un genere letterario ormai, con stilemi ben precisi.

Nel giallo, l'assassino e il detective duellano con sottigliezza e intelligenza su un bellissimo paesaggio culturale. Lo stilema si può ripetere all'infinito.

Qua c'è una cattedrale, una artista del mattone, un grande cattivo, la lotta tra bene e male dove il bene sopravvive, con il duro lavoro, la pazienza, l'intelligenza. E una storia di amore, nello sfondo storico del 1300 inglese, ricco di sessualità banalmente considerata ingenua.
E' diventato un genere.

Astonishing! It is not written in the numb style of mirabilia (Lukianòs, Apuleius, Ariosto), which the history of Literature is so rich, but in the scientific rational and dispassionate style of the "modern" science fiction.
Not bad, but not exactly literature. A curiosity and an exercise of style. Impressive it is the vast ironic vision of the contemporary society that J. Swift demonstrates. Really 18th century.
Written in a plain and easy style, it turns out to be even a easy reading, practically and metaphorically speaking-
Even if I am fond of Science Fiction...I'm not so enthusiast about this book.

I really love Fitzgerald! Unfortunately, he wrote so few books !

I read "Tender is the Night" in the Italian translation some years ago, now I'm reading it in its original version: obviously it is not easy for me going through it, English is not my native language and the Fitzgerald style is quite sophisticated, subtle and sometimes "elliptical", but.. it's worthy.

Però ha scritto così pochi libri!
Tenera è la Notte l'avevo letto in italiano e lo adoro. In inglese non è certamente una lettura facilissima. L'inglese di Fitzgerald è sofisticato ed ellittico... ma it's worthy... è bello e conturbante come sempre.
