This book vigorously challenges the common representation of an antisemitic pagan world (Hellenistic and Roman). Gager makes a compelling case, with plenty of documents to prove his thesis. As a non specialist I feel that at times he is treading on very fine ice, particularly so in the second half of the book where the case of Paul is discussed. Nonetheless the book is always well written, well documented and stimulating. The ebook edition I bought at Google Play is simply unacceptable. Scanned and OCR'ed apparently without any further editing, it is riddled with errors. Examples are "1n B.c.e." or "m B.c.e." in place of "111 B.c.e." and ">Doth" instead of "Both". If you cannot stomach something like that every two pages or so, then I recommend against buying this edition. By the way this seems to be the case for many ebook derived from printed editions nowadays. I am pretty sure that a cursory check with a text editor capable of spell checking would fix 99% of the problems.
