Molti sono i personaggi le cui vite si intrecciano, tutti persi nel loro lato nascosto, nella loro identità smarrita. Come ne Il tempo è un bastardo, anche qui passato e presente giocano a rimpiattino; la scrittura è sempre lucida, istantanea, fotografica: già dieci anni fa si percepiva uno stile fluido e consapevole, una notevole forza narrativa.
Il tempo è un bastardo: nella vita è un dato di fatto, ma non sempre nella letteratura.
"Guardami" è un libro molto più doloroso di quanto appaia. Del resto, "we are what we see" (J.E.)
