The third edition is updated to year 2008, and presents one of the best summaries of the history of Italy between 1870 to 2008. Clark is rarely judgemental, but when he is, he offers often an interesting and intriguing point of view. Curious how negative Clark is against the Italian education system, and questionable his definition of the 1968 student riots as a consequence of the bad educational system. Anyhow, this book is a must read.
