Yeah Gregory's books are a guilty pleasure of mine! I'm halfway through the Red Queen and it's ok. I don't really like the main character- she's too self righteous. So I probably won't end up liking this one as much as her others.
Yes, the novel 100 is a lot better for the non Geeks. There's so many good ones on there! I've read about 56 titles from 1001 and I have 20 on my wishlist, so I am particpating a little anyway :)
I've never really followed the 1001 lists... I'm viewing it now, but it's really daunting. You only choose the ones you're interested in right? There's no way I could force myself to even read half of those lol.
The only classic I've checked out in months is Jude the Obscure (I don't think that's on the novel 100 list though?) I feel bad that I've neglected them! I think I'll start some Shakespeare soon and then take a look at the list to get some ideas.
Hy i've noticed we have high compatibity so I add you as friend! You have an interesting library! ciao from italy! ^_^
The Consolations of Philosophy
I finished this book in one sitting, I was so entranced by it! I understand that de Botton is not well thought of by "proper" philosophy scholars but I find him more than adequate as a philosophy pleb.
