It has illustrations, comes with a CD, and uses everyday language. I did not get to use the CD, but it has helpful things on it. This is generally a very helpful series of books.

    Drama, Drama, Drama

Christian style. I started reading this book and the people were going to church and praying to God. I thought, 'Oh great, an "inspirational" book. I thought it was going to be a romance, but there will be no sex, no drama, no exciting anything.' I was wrong...this author uses her characters to show that everyone, yes even the uppity uppity Christians, are sinners and have their sins and weaknesses. And, get this, it was actually inspirational at times!

I thought this was going to be sort of like X-Men because of the romance between Jean Grey and Wolverine. In this book we have the telepathic doctor named Lily and her subject, Ryland, the military man. But it is strictly a romance novel. There isn't much action or adventure, let alone focus on the characters' abilities. There are more books in the series (this is the first) but I doubt I'll read them unless I'm in the mood for romance. Even the sex scenes use pretty cheesy, typical language.

Cover of Fahrenheit 451
  • Book Burning-Eek!

If you like "the giver" and "1984" you'll get this book. Not as good as those two, but the same concept. This is in a time where firemen burn books to keep people under control. They don't have anything else to burn since everything is fireproof.

  • Pretty Cool Witch

I never was into Charmed and the supernatural, but this was a pretty cool book. Maybe I'd like it better if I hadn't jumped in at the middle of the series (this isn't book 1). This witch has a lesbian vampire friend who's in love with her, a vampire boyfriend who runs a supernatural hangout, a male fairy as a sidekick, and some interesting nemeses, like the rich elfin Trent. Never really a boring moment and the humor is great! I'll probably read at least one more book in the series to see if I really like it.

If you like 1984 or The Giver, you'll be able to appreciate this book. It follows the story of a 15 year old girl and her friends as they go through life in a world that is strictly controlled by a small group of people. It's called Uglies because that is what the elite group raises them to think they are-ugly-as a method of control. When they reach age 16 they are sent to become a Pretty, but this 15 year old girl may choose a different path...

Cover of Eclipse
  • Totally Amusing

Let's just say that in this third book of the Twilight saga...the vampire and the wolf form an aliance while both trying to win over the same girl. This can cause some awkward situations!

    Sad Story

If you read the first book in the saga (Twilight, this is the second book) you'll know that Edward leaves Bella. Anyone who's been through a terrible breakup will be able to feel the emotion in this book. It is nice to see her relationship with Jacob deepen, though.

My Least Favorite of the Saga

It seems like Ms. Meyer was running out of ideas. Why did Bella have to get pregnant? It sucks that that was the whole point of the book. And the sex scenes--gimme a break. The only cool parts were the ones with the baby. Bella's power isn't even that cool. I was disappointed.

Cover of Generation Debt
  • Not as good as Strapped

It seemed like the author read "Strapped" and then just tried to copy it. Waste of energy, reading this one.
