I can't even put a rating on this book! On one level, it's completely ridiculous; one of those books that capitalize random Words to make them seem transcendental and mysterous, so full of holes and contradictions it couldn't hold even an ounce of water. But on another level, it can be really

I can't even put a rating on this book! On one level, it's completely ridiculous; one of those books that capitalize random Words to make them seem transcendental and mysterous, so full of holes and contradictions it couldn't hold even an ounce of water. But on another level, it can be really insightful and inspiring, and I think the things the book suggests could truly make someone a happier person (eg: "the Truth is this: you deserve all the good things life has to offer")
I probably would have appreciated this book more if I were a goldfish.
If you're going to read this book, BE PATIENT! the first 2/6 parts are pretty slow but it definitely picks up as soon as you get to part 3. It's a sad story, but I'm glad I read it.
Wow! this concept for this book is insane! It's about a square who lives in this world of two dimensional shape-people, and (I guess; I never got that far into the book) one day a person of THREE dimensions shows up and blows their whole perception of the universe into smithereens.

As interesting as it sounds, I found Flatland to be really boring. The writing style didn't really suit me, and nothing really happens. Granted, I didn't read that much of it, so I suppose my complaint is that it takes too long to get exciting, if in fact it does. Also, warning: it's sexist. (but I think this has to do with the era in which this book was written than anything else)
The information is presented according to topic, rather than philosopher, as some people might be used to. This book truly is an "introduction", as it covers many different aspects of political philosophy, but doesn't really go into detail on any of them (which may be good or bad). Also the language

Also the language Bird uses is easy to understand and not at all intimidating. Yay!
the title makes it seem oh-so thought provoking but it isn't really. Maybe there's a very piognant message behind all the seemingly random bitty anecdotes the main character tells; if so, I've missed it.

I can't say this is my favourite Douglas Coupland book. I liked it because it was nice and light so I could carry it places it in my bag. Also the text was big, and there are illustrations (albeit of the non-mind-blowing variety), so people on the bus think I'm a really fast reader.

I might give it another chance someday, maybe.
