Avery enjoyable and complete read about Pompeii. Especially good the bibliography at the end, for further reading.

terrifying -
This book is a bit out of date- it was first published in 1996- but it is still totally terrifying.
The author (a photographer and freelance writer) set off around the UK and stopped for a while amongst the most remote, poor, derelict, hopeless communities along the way, to give an idea of what thes ... (continue ) -

too much information, too few pages -
The author has spent most of his lifetime in The North- I haven't, that's maybe the reason why I found this book ful lof anectodes, names and places that I don't know. But they're realy way too many. I had the feeling he tried to condensate as much as he could into a little readable version, and unf ... (

due stelle e mezzo? -
Peccato.

Twenty thousand leagues under the sea

Finally, the read is over. -
but maybe just because I am addicted to a different level of science fiction. Or I don't really like most classics. Anyway, it took me a lot to finish, didn't exactly thrill, and in the end the english translation isn't super duper. I wouldn't say I regret reading it, and I admire verne for creating ... (

a tiny bit of Culture enjoyment -
Of the 8 stories that make this book, I really liked only one, "Descent". It is worth reading just for this and for "The state of the art" just for those that want to read every piece Banks wrote on the Culture, but frankly, if you don't, I don't blame you, this book will not change your life or mak ... The Ruby in the Smoke
For all the wrongness in it, you can't help but compare everything Pullmann wrote with His dark materials trilogy. For all the wrongness in it, you can't help but compare everything Pullmann wrote with His dark materials trilogy. So, this book is far from it, but it's a brilliant - if only a bit simplified plotted- read for younger people. I had to read it again in English to absorb all the joy of the original language. Now, off I go with the three (!) sequels, yay!
