A really good suspense filled thriller. Kept me turning pages long into the night ... and the ending blew me out of the water! Took me completely by surprise. Now that's what a thriller is all about!

It seems to me when it comes to Preston and Child, neither gentleman stands alone very well. I enjoyed the action and the SF treatment, but the characters were shallow, and though Preston's expertise in Native American studies was heavily touted in the blurbs, it wasn't very evident in the story. That's about all this book has to offer. Mysterious, centuries old alien relics buried under the sea floor have been used by a long string of writers most notably Orson Scott Card's "The Abyss" which was done far better. (Made a good movie, too).

This has been billed as a horror story and it certainly fills the role ... but ...there's something else here: a doggone scary ghost story! This book was a delight! I am looking forward to "Audrey's Door" and anything else this lady writes!

... with music and background stories. If you are a songleader or praise leader, or just been in the position to introduce a song to the congregation, don't leave home without it!

This is one of Stephen King's books that was a real joy to read. The movie was good, but the tv series was somewhat of a bore. All the Griffin series would be greatly improved if each novel was about 100 pages shorter. And ... when a love story is entwined within these lengthy tomes, write it like you have experienced love sometime in your life, not as an antiseptic episode involving cardboard people.

... that got me started with Baldacci. And I am such a fan! The man can write a thriller! And his characters stay with you forever. Think Dirty Harry has all the cute sarcastic one-liners? You haven't met Baldacci's "Oliver Stone", and the club members? You gotta love 'em!

I could never rate Clarke's books as five stars, simply because they are a pain to get through. Clarke is a scientist. I am not. When I was a boy all SF was hard core science. ...I was pulled in by the jacket blurb. What can I say ... it was a weak moment. However, it was really a fun read! Patterson doesn't write down to his audience so all the characters were full blown and the action was great!

This book and the two following books are probably of no interest to anyone besides me unless they are (1) a resident of WV, or (2) are historians seeking to explain the rise and fall of small cities throughout the country. And I love collections of vintage photos.

Everytime I think I know exactly what genre Pattersoni is in he jumps out of the box and writes something like this! Great romance with (of course) his usual twists and turns.
